The Venezuelan-Spanish tennis player will go by the same side of the square as Halep and could be measured by Sharapova, Vandeweghe and Pliskova. Possible cross between Serena and Venus Williams.

Garbiñe Muguruza already knows the route to follow to fight for the title in Indian Wells, the first Premier Mandatory of the season. The Venezuelan-Spanish tennis player will have a difficult path in the tournament, as the draw has given her some difficult opponents.

Muguruza has been framed on the same side of the painting as Simona Halep. It will be exempt of first round by its condition of head of series and in second round it could be moderate with the Canadian Eugenie Bouchard. In the third round, Muguruza could cross with Radwanska or Sharapova and, in the case of overcoming them, it would be measured in eighths at CoCo Vandeweghe. If it happens of round, to Muguruza it could expect to him in quarterfinals the Czech Karolina Pliskova and if it reaches the semifinals it could be moderate with Halep.

The other Spanish that appears in the picture (waiting for what they do in the previous phase Lara Arruabarrena and Sara Sorribes), the Canarian Carla Suarez, will also have complicated crosses on the other side of the table, which goes Caroline Wozniacki. Suarez will also be exempt from the first round and in the second round she could face Carina Witthoeft before crossing with Elina Svitolina, fourth favorite, in the third round. Suarez could be measured in eighth to Madison Keys, in quarters to Serena or Venus Williams and in a hypothetical semifinal to Caroline Wozniacki.

The draw of the Indian Wells women’s team also leaves us a possible cross between Venus and Serena Williams in the third round, in the return of the latter to the competition after having her first daughter. Serena will make her debut against Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas and if she passes, she will measure up to the Dutch Kiki Bertens. For its part, Venus is exempt from the first round and could face Sorana Cirstea in the second phase before facing her sister in the third round. The Williams did not meet in the circuit since the final of the Australian Open 2017, where Serena took the title in which it has been to date its last game on the circuit.
