José Gomes, 21-year-old left-back who represents Penafiel, is one of Portimonense’s targets for next season. The leftist has been in the sights of the scouting department of the Algarve since the beginning of this campaign by indication of Vítor Oliveira who very much appreciates the characteristics of the young defender.
Formed in SC Braga, where at the age of 18 he made his debut in the first team of the Minho warriors, in front of Rio Ave in a League Cup duel, José Gomes completes the first season with the durienses, for which he accumulates 2007 minutes in League 2 distributed by 25 matches, plus 90 in the Portuguese Cup. The tie of the side to Penafiel expires only in June 2019, however, the good relations between the two clubs could facilitate the lateral change to Portimão.
The reinforcement of the left side of the defense is, remember, a priority for Vítor Oliveira, who only has Rafa Soares, hired in January to FC Porto, for that position. In addition, it is not enough for the player to continue in the alvinegros, taking into account the good indications he has left, confirming, moreover, what he had done last season at Rio Ave, where he added 38 challenges and scored three goals.
The next round promises to be moved in Portimão, so the SAD of the Algarve seeks to anticipate the resolution of some of the files that it has in hand, taking safe steps in either the acquisition of players that may constitute capital gains, or closing the renewal with players who are important in the resort.
