It could have been worse…

Bayern meet in the Champions League quarter-finals on the Sevilla FC. The record champions will first play away in Andalusia on 3 April, the return leg in Munich on 11 April (at 20.45).

Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic (41): “I’m looking forward to the game, Sevilla is not an easy team. They shut down Manchester United. ”

But it is clear: Bayern are against the Spaniards to the former Mainz and Schalke Johannes Geis (24) the clear favorite. Sevilla is the record winner of the Europa League (2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016).

For the first time ever there is a duel between the two teams.

David Alaba (25) warns: “That’s certainly not an easy lot, they have not come this far for nothing.”

Bayern-Spaniard Javi Martinez (29): “It will not be easy, Sevilla have a great team with a lot of quality, especially in midfield. They are very fast on the wings, the strikers are dangerous. Sevilla have made very good games in the second half of the season, especially in Manchester. The atmosphere in the stadium is brutal, the fans are very loud. At home Sevilla plays very aggressive and punchy. We have to give everything. ”

Coach Jupp Heynckes (72): “I do not share the euphoria that was triggered after the draw. For me, this is a difficult lot. I know Spanish football, I know Sevilla. They play a well-groomed, creative football. They have huge footballers. And in Seville it is not as loud in the stadium as in Istanbul. But they too have a very fanatical audience. “

Ukraine coach Andrei Shevchenko (41) drew these three matches:

FC Barcelona – AS Roma
Juventus – Real Madrid
Liverpool FC – Manchester City

The Hammer: Jürgen Klopp (50) meets the former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola (47). And: With Juve vs. Real there’s a rematch of the 2017 finale.

The semi-final will be on 24./25. April and 1./2. May, the final will take place on May 26 in Kiev.

One who sees it a bit more relaxed is World Champion Thomas Müller (28): “Sevilla is a good ticket! There were teams with a sonorous name in the pot. You have to make it three times in a row to win the Europa League. ”

And further: “Nonetheless, it is our claim to progress one round. We are Bayern and do not want to progress with luck. We want to win the thing with a view to the competition. We are hungry because we have not been in the final for far too long (not since 2013). Now comes the hot phase, then it makes the most fun as a player. “
