Newcastle United have put Chancel Mbemba up for sale, and Celtic are looking for a new centre-back.
According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are set to sell Chancel Mbemba in January, and he could make a good option for Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers has already commented on how he wants to sign a centre-back, with both Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata looking short of quality at times this campaign.
Celtic are already bringing in Marvin Compper from Red Bull Leipzig, but another centre-back could still be on Rodgers’ wishlist.
Mbemba has struggled for game time at Newcastle this season, but he has proven to be a valuable option previously.
The centre-back is blessed with a great deal of pace, and is robust defender. Those qualities could aid Celtic, as they look to improve their defensive quality.
And if Newcastle are willing to part company with Mbemba, then Celtic should see if there is a chance that they could pull off a bargain deal in January.
